Przepływy w Mediach Porowatych

Flows in porous media are abundant in engineering and research practice. They cover biomedical projects such as blood flow in organs, more life-science topics such as estimating biomass permeability as well as modeling of large oil&gas reservoirs in petroleum engineering.

It is possible to model flows in porous media using various CFD approaches. Available PDEs are full Navier-Stokes equation, or Stokes equation or Darcy’s law. All these are implemented in QuickerSim CFD Toolbox for MATLAB® using Finite Element Method (FEM).

One can use full power of MATLAB® and supply the CFD model with whatever data necessary. Incorporate a map of your reservoir from internet or an image of bone marrow from Image Processing Toolbox and integrate that into a workflow in MATLAB®.

Case: Process of wicking of biomass. Unsteady process modeled in the QuickerSim CFD Toolbox for MATLAB® using Darcy’s law and advection-diffusion equation for advancing liquid front.
